Spirit Matters: A Bhakti Center Podcast

Introducing Spirit Matters

A Bhakti Center Podcast!

Join Dayal, Kishor and Acyuta as they discuss ancient spiritual teachings in a modern context. Spirituality can be integrated into every aspect of our daily lives to help us achieve peace, fulfillment and clarity, but it requires regular self-assessment, thoughtfulness, self-acceptance, forgiveness, and a little bit of humor in order to do so successfully and sustainably. New episodes are recorded live Monday-Friday on the Bhakti Center’s RISE platform and available to listen anywhere you get your podcasts. Please rate and review the podcast if you enjoy it, and we look forward to discussing spirit matters with you.

Dayal

Dayal has been on a spiritual journey his entire life, seeking truth from a young age. At the age of 18, he became a monk and dedicated himself to a life of spiritual study, reflection and service. One year later he made his first trip to India and has since traveled back numerous times visiting holy places throughout the subcontinent. Having lived in ashrams across the United States, he made his way to New York City in 2008 to participate in the formative years of the Bhakti Center. After 10 years of monastic life, he transitioned out of monk-hood. In 2013 he met his wife and is now married, continuing to live and serve in New York City as the Interim Executive Director for the Bhakti Center. In addition to leading regular Kirtan trainings and wisdom courses in New York, Dayal oversees a team of Bhakti Center staff members who coordinate and market all programming efforts in the areas of yoga, meditation, kirtan and ayurveda.

In 2017 Dayal completed his 200 hour Yoga Teacher certification from Supersoul Academy and currently studies clinical psychology at Hunter College.

Dayal’s love for music has made Kirtan and devotional singing a critical part of his own spiritual practice. His greatest joy is to connect with others and help bring the principles of yoga and spirituality to life for others. In this spirit he conducts workshops, trainings and retreats throughout the world as a means to share yoga and spirituality with everyone.

Kishor Chandra

Core Teacher

Kishor Chandra is a lover of life and seeker of wisdom. He spent most of his twenties traveling the world; in 2010 he lived in India for a year and half and began studying various schools of Vedanta. Those experiences launched a life-long passion for Vedic knowledge. In 2015 Kishor Chandra moved back to New York and completed his 200 hour YTT from Laughing Lotus Yoga. In that same year he was also introduced to the Bhakti Center where he lived and served as our Assistant Director until 2020. Kishor Chandra has helped to launch several kirtan initiatives at the Bhakti Center and regularly visits various yoga studios to share this sacred art.

Acyuta Gopi

For as long as she can remember, Kirtan or the Bhakti Yoga practice of mantra meditation through music has been the focus of Acyuta Gopi‘s life. The art of writing soon took up residence in the spaces of her heart not occupied by music, and the transformative power of prayer soon followed suit.
